rojos

Description

rojos is a performing arts piece resulting from a 2-year research on the postwar period of the Spanish civil war. This research was carried out on the basis of a parallel research project -roges- consisting of 15 immersions in the territory in search of memories of this period. These activities sought to generate synergies between particular testimonies, work-in-progress samples of choreographic material and theoretical and artistic information about the period. The stage result has the language of contemporary dance as its discursive axis but seeks to immerse itself in the memory of the singular space where it is performed.

A post-war period is a universal theme and common fact in the memory of all people, territories and sides. Essentially, the language of dance allows us to offer nonnarrative discourses that evoke collective imaginaries. After all this road travelled through this research that is still alive, and we can recognise this project as a way to listen, to learn, to repair and to make visible.

to recover the memory of a generation that admits that “not enough has been said” in order to bring it closer to the new generations using an interdisciplinary language.

to highlight the dissident and clandestine life during the repression through artistic figures, women creators and the homosexual movement.

to link the present moment with the post-war period through new references, first-person experiences and the construction of an artistic story -complementary to the historical onecreated from imaginaries present in the collective memory.
